School of Economics

School of Economics is a successor of Department of Industrial Foreign Trade, which was established in the 1980s. School of Economics began to offer undergraduate programs in International Economics and Trade in 1993. Finance major enrolled its first undergraduate students in 1996. In 1999, school of Economics was approved to establish a second-level Master research station in Industrial Economics. In 2006, it further established 2 Master research stations in Regional Economics and Quantitative Economics. In 2010, it was authorized to establish a first-level Master research station in Applied Economics.

The faculty members of School of Economics are energetic and creative in teaching and learning. Among the 51 faculty members, 22 of them are professors and associate professors. 28 of them have doctorate degrees and 17 of them are pursuing doctorate degrees. Those who received Ph.Ds at home have rich international academic experience through frequent visiting, exchanges and joint researches with prestigious universities and research institutes worldwide. Moreover, it has 10 prominent scholars as adjunct professors and guest professors. School of Economics currently has a first-class Master research station in Applied Economics and 6 second-class Master research stations. The school has four departments, namely, the Department of Economics, the Department of Finance, the Department of International Economics and Trade and the Department of Finance Engineering. Its prominent history, renowned academic status and innovative education mode attract excellent students in China and from all over the world. The school has 1,045 undergraduate students, 159 postgraduate students and 10 international students.

School of Economics has an Ecological Engineering Technology Research Center, which is jointly established with the school of Resources and Environment Engineering. Apart from the research center, the school has eleven scientific research institutes: Institute of Finance, Institute of Corporate Finance and Securities Research, Institute of Quantitative Economics, Institute of Industrial Economics, Institute of Regional Economics, Institute of Trade and Investment, Institute of Regional Industrial Planning, Institute of Environmental Development, Institute of Productivity Evaluation, Institute of Economic Law and Institute of Survey Research.

School of Economics has 2 featured courses: Industrial Economics and Econometrics. It has also maintained extensive exchange and cooperation with more than 10 practice bases outside school. The school aims at training students with good understanding of economic theory, strong language skill, and solid knowledge of both international economic theory and practice to meet the needs of China's further reform in the global age.
