The appointment ceremony for new HFUT Visiting Professor — Victor C. M. Leung — was held at the Academic Conference Center on January 18, 2016.

He Yigang, Dean of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, presided over the ceremony and gave an introduction of Professor Leung’s academic achievements. Vice President Zhao Han introduced the special and leading disciplines of HFUT, and the achievements made on fostering talents and disciplines related. On behalf of HFUT, Vice President Zhao awarded the letter of appointment to Professor Leung and looked forward to his future role in deepening his academic exchanges and cooperation with HFUT.

Professor Leung expressed his pleasure for the appointment and voiced his determination to set up closer academic links with the university.

Victor C. M. Leung is Elected Fellow of IEEE, Royal Society of Canada, Canadian Academy of Engineering, and Engineering Institute of Canada. He is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia (UBC) and TELUS Mobility Research Chair in Advanced Telecommunications Engineering. As a former IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer, he has been the editor for IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and other influential journals. He has published over 900 papers, conference proceedings and books in the area of wireless network and mobile systems. He is the winner of UBC Killam Research Prize in 2012, and IEEE Vancouver Section Centennial Award in 2011.

At the invitation of School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, Professor Leung had extensive exchanges with the faculty and students specializing in his academic field, visited the Photovoltaic System Engineering Center, and gave a report on “Video Game as a Service − Cloud Computing Enabled Video Gaming Anywhere on Any Device” during his visit to HFUT from Jan. 14 to Jan. 19.
