Rudy Lauwereins, Vice President of IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre), and Pan Peiyun, Director of IMEC China Office, visited Hefei University of Technology on April 27. Ma Li, Division Director of the Talents Exchange Center of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) accompanied the delegation.
HFUT Vice President Zhao Han received the guests and introduced the history and the recent development of the university. He expressed his hope to cooperate with IMEC, a renowned international research institute in microelctronics, on joint student training programs, faculty communication and technological research.
Mr. Lauwereins gave an account of the exchanges and study of HFUT teachers and students in IMEC. Both sides have exchanged opinions on the training mode and scholarship for joint doctoral program and sending HFUT postgraduates to University of Leuven.
Ma Li elaborated on MIIT’s financial support to the program. Other HFUT staff from the School of Microelectronics and International Affairs Department also attended the meeting.
Founded in 1984, IMEC is the world’s most advanced independent microelectronic research center headquartered inLeuven, Belgium. IMEC’s major research domains are information and communication technology, medical care, energy, and most importantly, semi-conductor. IMEC has signed a strategic cooperation memorandum with MIIT, and will enhance its cooperation with China on training of college teachers and doctoral students.
