On November 14, 2017 , General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping jointly attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the Mahosot Hospital with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President Bounnhang Vorachit of Laos in Vientiane. The Mahosot Hospital is a landmark livelihood project built with Chinese assistance. Chinese chief architect Ding Jian, also an alumnus of Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) and the chairman of China IPPR International Engineering Company Limited, introduced the project to President Xi and President Bounnhang Vorachit.

Among all the China’s foreign aid projects so far, Mahosot Hospital is the largest hospital in terms of the number of beds (600 beds) and investment. The project was carried out in an open bidding manner, and Laotian working group was invited to China to select the final design. The Design made by China IPPR International Engineering Company Limited and IPPR Engineering International Company Limited, takes the user requirements and medical care-seeking patterns of Laos into full consideration, and is also adapted to local climate conditions and cultural features. With a very high standard, the design won the bid.

Ding Jianis the alumnus of the class of 1983, majoring inarchitectureat Hefei University of Technology.He now is the chairman and chief architect of China IPPR International Engineering Company Limited. He is also the vice chairman of the Architectural Society of China and the vice director of National Education Evaluation Committee of College Architecture Majors.
