CHEN Gang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee
Basic Information: CHEN Gang (1964.9-), male, Han nationality, born in Hefei, Anhui Province, Member of the Communist Party of China.
Post: Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology, professor of architecture, and master supervisor.
Working Experiences: CHEN Gang studied at the College of Architecture of Hefei University of Technology from September 1983 to July 1987, and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in architecture. Upon graduation, he worked for Anhui Mechanical Industry Design Institute as Assistant Engineer and later Engineer from July 1987 to May 1992. From May 1992, he worked for the College of Architecture Engineering of Hefei University of Technology as Lecturer and then Associate Professor, successively holding the posts of Deputy Director, Director of the teaching and research section, and Secretary of CPC branch of faculties and staff. From May 2002 to January 2008, he worked for the College of Architecture and Arts of Hefei University of Technology, and served successively as Teaching Secretary, Associate Dean, and Dean (during which he attended the graduate seminar on “Architectural Design and Theory” at the College of Architecture and Arts from September 2001 to July 2003).Then from January 2008 to May 2010, he was appointed as Vice President in charge of teaching of the College of Architecture andArts. After that, he held the post of Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Architecture and Arts in May 2010 (during which hebecame a visiting scholar at the University of Alberta from March 2013 to June 2013).In October 2015, he was made Head of the Organization Department of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology and Authority Party Secretary (concurrently). In June 2017, he served as Member of the Standing Committee and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hefei University of Technology.
Academic Activities & Achievements: Professor CHEN Gang is mainly engaged in the teaching and research related to architectural form and modeling language, as well as urban design and space environment. He supervised 10 research projects including the Humanities and Social Science Project supported by the Ministry of Education, the Culture and Arts Project supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Key Project of Anhui Social Science Foundation, Anhui Province Science and Technology Project, the Project supported by Anhui Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science（JSPS）Subproject,etc., and participated in the research of six projects supported by China National Arts Fund as well as the Key Project of the Natural Science Foundation supported by the Ministry of Education and so on. He also won the third prize for Excellent Design of National Engineering Construction Projects held by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. Professor CHEN has published more than 20 academic papers, supervised over 3 teaching reform projects of Anhui Province, and supervised or participated in 4 projects including the provincial and university-level quality curriculum projects, teaching team building, and the construction of national characteristic specialty for architecture and so on. Besides, he also participated in compiling 2 teaching materials (including a "13th Five-Year" planned textbook), and won the first prize in Anhui Province Teaching Achievements Awards. Under his guidance, his students’ works have been included by International Architecture Biennale, and won Asian Design Award and other awards for over 10 times. In addition, professor CHEN was also awarded Outstanding Teacher of Anhui Province, Outstanding College Communist Party Member of Anhui Province, university-level renowned teacher, Top Ten Exemplary Moral Teachers, Advanced Individual for making outstanding contributions to teaching proficiency assessment, and other honorary titles.
