Professor Wei Zhen, the PHD advisor from School of Computer and Information, was named “National Outstanding Technical Professional” on the 5th National Award Ceremony for National Outstanding Technical Professional in Beijing.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, met the talents in Beijing and shook hands with Professor Wei.
Professor Wei has long been committed to studies on application of computer technology in the surveillance and control of the mobile target under mine pit and railway transportation intelligent dispatching system, etc. and has undertaken multiple major national or ministerial scientific research programs whose research findings have tackled many major technical problems in the operation of mines and railways in China.
Professor Wei has taken charge of or engaged in the formulation of 7 national standards and 2 industrial standards, c to the scientific improvement of pillar industries like mining, metallurgy, petro chemistry and port transportation.
He was appraised by the State Council for his excellent performance as one of the 12 experts in the investigation panel of the 7.23 Yong-Wen Line major rail accident.
“National Outstanding Technical Professional” is awarded every 5 years to new champions in major national strategic, scientific or engineering programs, standouts in emerging strategic industries, regional key development areas or competitive industries or talents who have long committed themselves to front-line technical posts with devotion, enterprising spirit and wide social influence.
The appraisal of the award was jointly organized by several ministries including Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and Ministry of Science and Technology. 99 individuals and 96 organizations were awarded this time.
