The HFUT Guangdong Research Institute was launched in Sanshui District, Foshan, Guangdong Province on September 23. HFUT President Xu Zongwei, officials from Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, relevant parties from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, School of Materials Science and Engineering and School of Instrument Science and Opto-electronic Engineering and relevant administrative personnel, alumnus in Guangdong as well as other officials from Foshan City and Sanshui District attended the launching ceremony.

As the first large-scale public scientific innovation platform, the HFUT Guangdong Research Institute is planned to build 4 platforms in the next 5 years for advanced manufacture and smart equipment, new energy techniques and application, R&D of automobile and its parts, and IT application and smart network, through which local scientific achievements would be transformed into productivity quickly, cementing the industrial upgrading in Sanshui and Foshan at large.

With an estimated 5-year investment of 100 million RMB, the construction of the Research Institute will be segmented into two sessions: Phase 2014-2016 and Phase 2017-2018.

After the launching ceremony, President Xu Zongwei and Assistant to the President Li Gang and Jing Heping made field trips to famous technical companies such as Xingfa Aluminum Holdings Ltd. and G.M.K Equipment.
