Two works --Anywhere and City Fiber of Durbanby undergraduate students from School of Architecture and Art both ranked top 15 among 478 entries from dozens of countries includingChina,Britain,France,Germanyand theUnited Statesin the 25th UIA International Student Competition held in Durban,South Africa.
The World Congress of Architects is held by UIA every three years, during which UNESCO and UIA would host the International Student Competition according to the theme of the congress. Hailed as the “Olympic Game for architecture students”, it is the top-class completion for students in this area.
The 2014 Durban Congress, with the theme of “Architecture Otherwhere -- looking elsewhere for other ways of creating a better future”, chose Warwick Junction site in Durban,South Africaas its venue. Centered on the three sub-themes, namely, resilience, ecology and values, students were required to submit their solutions for short, medium and long-term interventions around the dynamic and complex Warwick Junction site in a bid to address development problems.
