HFUT Racing Team was awarded the “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team” at the 9th China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award ceremony recently held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

This year the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, All-China Youth Federation, All-China Students Federation and National Working Committee of Chinese Young Pioneers selected 100 college student teams as “Xiaoping Science and Technology Innovation Team”. This is the highest award in national youth science and technology innovation. Student Wang Jun from School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering received the medal from Vice Premier Liu Yandong.

The award was set to boost the scientific innovation by young people at the 110th anniversary of Comrade Deng Xiaoping’s birth at the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award.

A constant competitor in Formula SAE, HFUT team assembles students with passion for cars to jointly design, build and modulate formula car with outstanding acceleration capability and maneuverability. In 2013, HFUT racing team won the first place in the formula SAE Electric in 4th Formula Student China. The team won the 4th place in the formula SAE Electric in Formula Student Britain. HFUT racing is on a promising track to even greater success and looks to continue its steady path of improvement with next race car for the FSAE China 2014 in October.
