The first woman’s soccer match kicked off in the afternoon of April 15th. It is also the first tournament of woman’s soccer in HFUT history.

Organized by Department of Sports and Physical Education, the match has attracted over 150 athletes from 11 schools in HFUT. The match aims to nourish campus culture and strengthen students’ physical quality and team spirit.

The match is in line with the requirements of the Overall Reform Plan to Boost the Development of Soccer in China: cultivate more young soccer players, promote soccer on campus and combine moral education with soccer programs on campus. The Ministry of Education will soon roll out a four-tiered tournament system from the primary school to the university, giving great impetus to the development of campus soccer.

It is in this context that HFUT held the first woman’s soccer tournament. The tournament concluded with the teachers’ team winning 3-1 against the university team.

HFUT has maintained a brilliant record in sports as a constant winner in international, national and provincial sports games. The HFUT Soccer Man’s Team and Woman’s Team have scored the champion and the runner-up in the provincial college sports game respectively for four years in a row.
