Five competing teams of HFUT won one first Prize, three Second Prizes and one third Prize in 2015 National Digital Design Contest for Mechanical Products. The contest was held from May 15 to 17 in Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Students from the Xuancheng Campus, with their debut on this contest were the major contributor to this victory. They claimed four prizes apart from one second prize won by the main campus.

Over 500 teachers and students from 70 plus universities such as Xi’an Jiaotong University, Harbin Institute of Technology from the mainland and National Yunlin University of Science and Technology from Taiwan took part in the contest and competed for climbing robots design under the theme of “Limits Climbing Over”. The contest was sponsored by the Mechanical Engineering Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education.

Students have shown their independent capabilities of design in every aspect through their works, on-site argumentation and impromptu design sessions. The contest is dedicated at fostering the students’ innovative awareness and comprehensive abilities in design and spreading the advanced ideas and methods for designs.

HFUT had started its preparation for the contest since October last year. In the end, Wall Climber — quadruped King Kong from Xuancheng Campus won the first prize by its creative design and full-fledged functions.
