HFUT has applied for and claimed most patents among the research institutes in Anhui Province for three years from 2012 to 2014, according to the annual report released by Anhui Intellectual Property Office.

In 2014, HFUT applied for 573 patents and 217 were granted, with a steady increase in both figures compared with that in 2012 and 2013.

Under the campaign of “Intellectual Property Strategy”, HFUT has organized “Year of Scientific Achievements” to establish a performance appraisal system and set up “Autumn Harvest Project” to ensure its IPRs are in conformity with the market demands. Meanwhile, HFUT has been constantly building up its capacity in patent management and IPR protection. With a greater publicity on IPR, HFUT has increased cooperation with technical intermediaries and technical transfer agencies to widen the channels for IPR transfer.

In December 2014, HFUT was selected as the Pilot Institution for the Reform of the Application, Disposal and Royalty Management of Scientific Deliverables by Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and National Intellectual Property Office. In carrying forward the pilot program, HFUT will strive to smooth the channel of scientific delivery and upgrade its capability in boosting the regional economic and industrial growth.
