HFUT PhD student Wang Aiguo from the Talent Introduction Base of Information Technology for Elderly Welfare won the Best Paper Award in 2014 ASE International Conference on Biomedical Computing (BioMedCom 2014) for hisIncremental Wrapper based Gene Selection with Markov Blanketas the first author.
This paper introduces Markov Blanket (MB) into incremental wrapper based feature subset selection (FSS) process to speed up the process through eliminating redundant features. It is proved that the method would guarantee high quality feature subset to be selected while saving much time.
Subsequent authors of this paper include Professor An Ning, Professor Li Liang, Associate Professor Yang Jing and Gil Alterovitz, expert of the Talent Introduction Base from Harvard Medical School.
Sponsored by Harvard University, BioMedCom 2014 was a renowned international conference in biomedicine drawing uncountable submissions from academics around the world. The average acceptance rate is around 10%.
