New House of Abu, the design plan by two students from School of Architecture and Arts, HFUT won the first prize in 2014 UA Creation Award & International Concept Design Competition.
With focus on an old house destroyed in a fire in Shangri-La, the two designers transform the interior space to outdoor courtyard, sustaining the old man’s memory and life there. The plan establishes a connection between life and space and revives the vivid living scenes, sublimating the daily life into literary poetics.
UA Creation Award & International Concept Design Competition is held annually since 2004. With the theme of “Architecture for Everyday Life” in 2014, the competition aims to place architecture as a real expression of lifestyle. 799 entries were submitted in 2014 with one first prize, two second prizes and three third prizes.
