Professor Wang Meng from the School of Computer and Information was conferred the Rising Star Award in its inaugural year on the ACM Multimedia by ACM Special Interest Group on Multimedia (SIGMM).

ACM is the largest and most reputed international scientific and educational computer society in the industry today. SIGMM is ACM’s Special Interest Group on Multimedia – the community of researchers and practitioners dedicated to building next-generation technologies and applications around multimedia. ACM Multimedia is a worldwide premier conference to display scientific achievements and innovative industrial products in the multimedia field.

This new award of ACM SIGMM recognizes a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of multimedia computing, communication and applications during the early part of his or her career as reviewed by the awarding committed formed by many outstanding experts in the world.

With significant contributions in the areas of media tagging and tag processing as well as multimedia accessibility research, Professor Wang Meng stood out to be the winner and was invited to give a special report on ACM Multimedia.
